sumissura alternatives: made-to-measure pants and blazers, reviewed by a tailor first

By Nina Karisik, founder of MadeAptPublished 18 October 2026

The short answer

Sumissura is good at what it does: online made-to-measure pants, blazers and suits from a form of measurements, with a guarantee that pays for local alterations afterwards. MadeApt is the alternative for women who want a tailor to look first: the design and your measurements are reviewed before anything is cut, the making is photographed, and pants start from $259 USD, about four weeks including shipping, with the quote before you pay.

Upload the pants or blazer you want — we’ll quote it

A photo, a screenshot or a pair you loved and lost. It opens in the studio as your reference, a tailor checks the rise, the leg and the cloth, and you get a price before anything is cut.

No payment now. A tailor reviews the image, you get a quote, then you decide. Or describe it in the studio instead.

Why people look for a Sumissura alternative

Sumissura made women’s made-to-measure tailoring ordinary: pick a blazer or a trouser, enter your measurements, and a garment cut to them arrives in a few weeks at a price close to good ready-to-wear. If you are here, the usual reasons are one of three: the first pair needed alterations and you would rather someone had checked before cutting; you want a style that is not on its menu; or you want to see the thing being made and know who made it.

This guide compares the real options for women’s pants, blazers and suiting, with my own platform listed first and disclosed as such. The figures for other companies are what they publish, checked in October 2026; I have not placed a Sumissura order myself and I say so.

Option one

MadeApt: full disclosure, this is us

MadeApt is a made-to-measure platform with a person in the loop. You choose a style from the shop or upload a photo, a tailor reviews the design and your measurements and asks if something looks off, and the pants or blazer are cut to your waist, hips, rise, thigh and length by one maker. The making is photographed at each quality gate before it ships.

Pants start from $259 USD; The Satin-Waist Cigarette Trouser and The Pinstripe Suit Pant are $329 USD each, and The Hourglass Blazer in stretch wool suiting is $399 USD. Most orders take approximately 4 weeks including shipping, confirmed when we quote. That is a little longer than Sumissura’s stated window and more than its entry price, and I’d rather say so here than at checkout.

Ordering from the US? Prices show in USD. Price includes delivery to the US. Import duties are calculated and shown at checkout — no surprise fees on arrival.

What the price covers:

  • Made to your measurements, not a size chart.
  • Changes to the neckline, sleeves, length and fabric, agreed before anything is cut.
  • If something is our fault, we fix it: alteration first, a remake if needed, a refund if neither works.
  • Delivery to the US is included in the price.

The detail is in our returns and remakes policy.

Catalogue design renders, not photos of sewn garments. Each is cut to your measurements after you order.

Good for: A waist and hips that are different sizes, a rise you actually chose, satin cigarette pants or a pinstripe suit trouser you can’t find in your proportions, and a blazer to go with them. The custom-made pants page has the styles and prices.

Not for: Next week, or Sumissura's entry price. A garment cut individually by a tailor costs more and takes longer.

Option two

Sumissura: online made to measure at the lowest price

Sumissura (opens in a new tab) is the womenswear side of the Hockerty group. You choose a garment, customise a set of details, enter your measurements online and the piece is made to them. Its women’s pages list pants from €89 on the EU site and jeans from A$149 on the Australian one, blazers from €149, and a delivery window of 2–3 weeks that it says can stretch in promotional periods.

The part worth reading before you order is the Perfect Fit Guarantee. As published, it refunds the cost of local alterations up to 25% of the garment price, remakes the garment free if it cannot be altered, and requires the claim and a tailor’s invoice within 30 days of delivery. That is a fair policy, and it also tells you the model: the fit is checked after the garment arrives, by you and your local tailor, not before it is cut.

Good for: Structured basics at the lowest made-to-measure price, a wide menu of blazers, trousers and suits, and a clear alterations guarantee.

Watch for: Nobody reviews your measurements before cutting; the alterations refund is capped at 25%, and the 30-day window is short if a fitting takes time to book.

Option three

A local tailor: the best fit, if you can get one

Nothing beats a tailor who measures you in person and fits the trouser on you twice. The catch is finding one who does women’s tailoring from scratch, getting a slot, and paying for the hours. If you have one, keep them. If you don’t, made to measure with a human review is the closest thing that fits in a browser.

Good for: Fittings in person, difficult cloth, a full bespoke suit.

Watch for: Price, availability, and lead times that run on the tailor's book, not yours.

Option four

Off the rack plus alterations: cheaper, until it isn’t

An alterations tailor can take in a waist, shorten a leg and move a button. What they cannot change is the rise, the pocket placement or the fact that the pattern assumed a different ratio of waist to hip. Our alterations vs made-to-measure guide draws the line properly; the short version is that if you are altering the same two things on every pair, you are paying for made to measure in instalments.

Good for: A pair that already fits through the seat and rise and just needs a hem.

Watch for: Alterations compound: three fixes on a cheap pair cost what a made-to-measure pair does.

What to send for a made-to-measure pants quote

  • A photo of the pants or blazer you want, front and, if you have it, back.
  • What must stay (the leg, the pockets, the pleats) and what can change.
  • The fabric you have in mind, or ask us to recommend one for the drape you want.
  • Your delivery country and any date you need them by.

Measurements come after the quote, with a guide. If you are tall, petite, or between sizes at the waist and hips, say so: it is the whole point. Our guides on why pants never fit off the rack and custom work pants go into rise, inseam and pockets. And if what you actually want is the dress to wear with the blazer, see our custom-made dresses.
