custom clothing for tall women.DESIGNED FOR YOUR HEIGHT · NOT SIMPLY MADE LONGER

Finding trousers with enough length is difficult. Finding trousers where the rise, knee, pockets and proportions also sit correctly can be even harder. MadeApt helps tall women design custom clothing online and have it made using their individual measurements — pants, dresses, skirts, tops, jumpsuits, suits and occasionwear shaped around your body, not a standard pattern with a few extra centimetres added to the hem.

Being tall does not describe one body shape

Tall clothing should account for more than height.

Two women of the same height may have completely different proportions. One may have:

a longer torsolonger legsa higher or lower natural waista longer risebroader shoulderslonger armsa fuller bustwider hipsa smaller waista different balance between upper and lower body

This is why buying the “tall” version of a standard garment does not always solve the problem. A longer inseam may help, but it will not correct a waistband that sits too high, a dress waist that falls near the ribs, sleeves that stop above the wrist or pockets that appear too high on the body. MadeApt starts with your design and your measurements.

What we can measure for

Made for taller proportions.

Depending on the garment, custom measurements can help account for:

full heightshoulder-to-floor lengthtorso lengthshoulder-to-waist lengthwaist-to-hip lengthwaist-to-knee lengthoutside leg lengthinside leg lengthfront and back risesleeve lengthshoulder widthbust, waist and hip circumferenceupper-arm circumferencethigh and knee circumferencepreferred garment lengthpreferred waistband positionheel height for full-length pieces

The aim is not to label you as a taller version of a standard size. It is to give the maker enough information to understand the proportions of your body and the intended shape of the garment.

Clothing problems tall women know too well.

Pants that are almost long enough

The waistband fits, but the trousers finish above your shoes. Or the inseam is long enough, but the rise, knee position or pocket placement feels wrong. Custom trousers can be designed around both your leg length and the proportions of the entire garment.

Dresses with the waist in the wrong place

The waist seam might sit too high, darts may finish in the wrong position and a midi dress may appear much shorter than intended. Custom measurements help place the waist, bust shaping, hip line and hem where the design is meant to sit.

Sleeves that never reach the wrist

Sizing up may add some length, but it can also make the body of the garment too wide. A made-to-measure top, dress or jacket can allow for longer arms without automatically increasing every other part of the garment.

Jumpsuits that pull through the body

Even when the bust, waist and hips fit, the garment can pull through the torso or crotch if the body length is too short. A custom jumpsuit can be developed using torso, rise and leg measurements rather than relying only on a standard dress size.

Mini dresses that become tops

A garment designed to sit at the mid-thigh can finish much higher on a longer frame. With custom clothing, the intended visual length is considered alongside your actual shoulder-to-hem or waist-to-hem measurement.

Blazers with misplaced shaping

On a tall frame, standard blazer shaping may sit too high. The waist suppression, buttons, pockets, darts, elbow position and jacket length all affect whether the garment looks balanced.

Length is only one part of trouser fit

Custom jumpsuits for long torsos.

Jumpsuits can be especially difficult to buy when you are tall or have a longer torso. A standard jumpsuit may:

-Pulls at the crotch.
-Restricts movement.
-Sits too high at the waist.
-Finishes too short at the leg.
-Pulls down through the shoulders.
-Creates tension around the zip.
-Fits the torso but not the legs — or the legs but not the torso.
+A custom jumpsuit considers the upper body, rise and leg length together.

You can design one individual garment or develop several pieces that work together as a small custom wardrobe — useful when you repeatedly encounter the same fit problems and want a reliable trouser, shirt, dress or jacket shape around your measurements.

Clothing for tall and curvy women.

Tall clothing should not assume that every tall woman is straight-sized, narrow-framed or evenly proportioned. You may be tall and:

curvyfuller-bustedpear-shapedbroad-shoulderedplus-sizesmaller at the waistfuller through the hips or thighsbetween standard clothing sizesdifferent sizes through upper and lower body

A pair of trousers may need a longer inseam, fuller hip shaping and a smaller waistband. A dress may need additional bust room, a lower waist position and more length through the skirt. You should not have to solve one fit problem by creating another.

And being tall does not necessarily mean needing a larger clothing size. Some tall women struggle to find garments that are both long enough through the body, arms or legs and narrow enough through the bust, waist or hips. Made-to-measure clothing can add length where it is needed without automatically increasing the entire garment.

Your style — not just a practical solution

You choose the design.

Custom clothing does not need to mean choosing from one conservative template. You can begin with:

How custom clothing works with MadeApt.

01

Share your idea

Choose an existing MadeApt design or send us your sketch, reference images, description or moodboard. Tell us what you usually struggle to fit and how you want the garment to feel.

02

Develop the garment

We help clarify the silhouette, fabric, length, construction and custom details. When necessary, the design may be adjusted so it can be made successfully in real fabric.

03

Provide your measurements

You will receive guidance on the measurements required. For tall customers, vertical measurements are particularly important — torso length, rise, sleeve length, waist-to-knee, inseam, outside leg and the intended finished length.

04

Review your quote

The cost depends on the design, fabric, construction, maker, embellishment and amount of work required. You can review the quote before deciding whether to continue.

05

Your garment is made

The project is matched with a suitable tailor or artisan from the MadeApt maker network. Your design, measurements and preferences are included in the garment brief.

06

Perth quality check

Where applicable, garments are received in Perth for checking, pressing, steaming and careful packaging before being sent to the customer.

Your measurements and your design preferences work together

Measure the garment you want — not the garment stores assume you want.

Trouser length

The correct length may change depending on whether you plan to wear the pants with flat shoes, sneakers, boots, kitten heels or high heels.

Dress length

Rather than requesting only a "midi" or "maxi" dress, measure to the exact position where you want the hem to finish on your body.

Waist placement

A designer's standard waist position may not match your natural waist or the position where you prefer a waistband to sit.

Sleeve length

Measure to your preferred finishing point rather than assuming a standard long sleeve will reach it.

Rise

Low-, mid- and high-rise trousers all require the waistband position to be clearly identified.

Alterations have limits

Why not just alter standard clothing?

It is often possible to shorten a garment. Adding significant length is more difficult because the additional fabric may not exist. Alterations may also be unable to fully correct:

-A rise that is too short.
-A waist seam that sits too high.
-Darts in the wrong position.
-A short torso.
-Incorrect pocket placement.
-A blazer button positioned too high.
-A jumpsuit that pulls through the body.
-Sleeves with insufficient fabric.
-A skirt flare beginning in the wrong place.
+Custom clothing considers these proportions before the fabric is cut.

MadeApt garments are created after an order is placed — made to order instead of mass produced. We do not need to produce large quantities in standard size and height combinations before knowing whether anyone needs them. You can request one garment made for one person, and choose from a wider range of designs and fabrics than a conventional tall-fashion collection may be able to keep in stock.

Fit, structure, comfort and movement

Choose your fabric.

A structured pair of trousers requires a different fabric from a fluid evening dress. MadeApt can help you consider how the fabric will interact with the intended silhouette and length. Depending on the garment, you may explore:

Your body does not need to fit the garment. The garment should be developed for your body.

- Sleeves that are nearly long enough.

- Trousers that work only with flats.

- Dresses with the waist near your ribs.

- Jumpsuits that restrict your movement.

- Blazers with shaping in the wrong place.

- Clothing that fits your height but ignores the rest of your proportions.
