azazie alternatives: bridesmaid dresses that fit five different bodies

By Nina Karisik, founder of MadeAptPublished 18 October 2026

The short answer

If you want cheaper matching dresses in standard sizes, Birdy Grey and Kennedy Blue undercut Azazie. If you want one dress on five different bodies and every one of them to fit, made to measure is the honest answer: MadeApt drafts each dress from its wearer’s measurements, in one fabric across the party, from $259 USD per dress, with a tailor’s quote before you pay. Whatever you pick, read the custom-size return terms first.

Same dress, five different bodies — upload the dress, we’ll quote all five

A screenshot, a Pinterest pin or an Azazie product page is enough. The design opens in the studio, a tailor checks what can be built as shown, and you get one quote for the party before anyone measures anything.

No payment now. One quote covers every dress in the party. Or describe it in the studio instead.

Why people look for an Azazie alternative

Azazie did something genuinely useful: hundreds of styles, dozens of colours, a custom-size option and a try-at-home programme, at a price a bridal party can agree on. If you are here, something in that didn’t work for you. Usually it is one of three things: the dresses arrived and two of five needed real alterations, the production window didn’t suit the wedding date, or you wanted a design that isn’t in the catalogue.

This guide compares the current options honestly, including my own platform, which I’ve listed first with full disclosure. I haven’t ordered from every company here. The comparison is built from what each one publishes about its prices, sizing and timelines, checked in October 2026, and from what we see when a party comes to us after one of them.

Other companies’ figures are as published on their own sites and help pages when checked in October 2026; prices are regional and promotional and change often, so confirm before you order. “Not stated” means we could not find it published. The MadeApt row is our current pricing and policy.

Fame & Partners used to belong on this list and doesn’t any more: it went dark in 2023 with bridal parties reportedly holding paid, unfinished orders. If you were one of them, our Fame and Partners alternatives guide covers what happened and what to do.

Option one

MadeApt: full disclosure, this is us

MadeApt is a made-to-measure platform. For a bridal party that means one fabric and one colour across everyone, the silhouette, neckline, sleeves and length chosen per person if you want them to differ, and each dress drafted from its wearer’s measurements rather than the nearest size. A tailor reviews the design and quotes the whole party before anyone pays.

Bridesmaid dresses start from $259 USD per dress, with deals on orders of five or more. They are typically made within 3–4 weeks once the design, fabric, colour and measurements are confirmed, plus shipping; we ask for 8–10 weeks before the wedding for a relaxed timeline, and we’ll tell you honestly if a shorter runway works. The making is photographed at each quality gate, so “where are the dresses” always has an answer.

Ordering from the US? Prices show in USD. Price includes delivery to the US. Import duties are calculated and shown at checkout — no surprise fees on arrival.

What the price covers:

  • Made to your measurements, not a size chart.
  • Changes to the neckline, sleeves, length and fabric, agreed before anything is cut.
  • If something is our fault, we fix it: alteration first, a remake if needed, a refund if neither works.
  • Delivery to the US is included in the price.

The detail is in our returns and remakes policy.

Good for: Parties of different bodies, a design that isn’t in anyone’s catalogue, and brides who want to see the dresses being made. See custom-made dresses for how the making works, and design your own bridesmaid dress to build the party online.

Not for: A wedding in a fortnight, or a US$99-a-dress budget. A dress made individually by a tailor costs more and takes longer than a size run.

Option two

Azazie: the broadest catalogue, still

Azazie (opens in a new tab) remains the biggest menu: hundreds of styles in a long colour list, made to order whether you pick a standard size or give measurements for a custom size. Its support centre publishes a production window of 2–6 weeks plus 1–10 days delivery, longer between January and March, and recommends ordering around four months out. Custom-size dresses are not returnable, with limited alteration reimbursement.

The thing to understand about its custom size is that it adjusts an existing pattern to your measurements rather than drafting the dress from them. For most bodies that works well. For the bridesmaid whose bust and hips sit two sizes apart, it is where the alterations bill comes from.

Good for: Choice: the most styles and colours in one place, try-at-home samples, custom size at order.

Watch for: Final-sale custom sizing, the January–March production stretch, and prices that differ by region and sale.

Option three

Birdy Grey: the US$99 ceiling

Birdy Grey (opens in a new tab) is the budget answer and makes no secret of it: every dress at US$99 or less, sizes to 3XL, in-stock styles shipping in about 5–10 business days. Its FAQ is equally plain that it does not offer custom sizes or custom lengths, and that international orders (an older policy named the UK and Australia) are final sale.

Good for: A tight budget, a short timeline, a party of mostly standard sizes that can take a dress to a local tailor.

Watch for: No custom sizing at all, and no returns if you order from outside the US.

Option four

Kennedy Blue: made to order, with a long runway

Kennedy Blue (opens in a new tab) sits between the two: dresses listed from US$99 to US$149, made to order in standard sizes with custom length on some styles, try-at-home samples, and exchanges only on non-customised dresses. Its own getting-started page gives about 10 weeks for standard styles, 8 for rush and 14 for custom-length or Platinum styles, which is the longest published window on this list.

Good for: Matching colours across silhouettes at a low price, if the wedding is three months away or more.

Watch for: The lead time, and that custom length is the only custom option.

The real question: how does one dress fit five different bodies?

Every bridesmaid brand advertises “mix and match”. Read that as colours and necklines. The fit model underneath is almost always a size chart, and a size chart gives five women the five nearest sizes. The tall one gets a hem to take up, the one with a long torso gets a waist seam in the wrong place, the one between sizes gets told to size up and have it taken in. The dresses match in the photograph and not on the women.

  • Standard sizes (Birdy Grey, Kennedy Blue, Azazie’s default): cheapest, fastest, and the alterations are yours to arrange. Budget for them.
  • Custom size on a standard pattern (Azazie’s option): closer, final sale, and the pattern still assumes a standard set of proportions.
  • Made to measure (MadeApt): the design is drafted from each wearer’s measurements, in one fabric across the party. It costs more per dress and takes 3–4 weeks to make, and it is the only one of the three where “same dress” and “fits her” are not in tension.

If you want to build the party yourself before asking for a quote, the design your own bridesmaid dress page lets you set one fabric and choose a silhouette per person. If you would rather send a picture and a list of names, use the enquiry form on custom bridesmaid dresses.

How to order bridesmaid dresses without buying blind

Whichever company you choose, including if it isn’t us:

  • Order from one bolt, or accept a shade difference. Dye lots vary. Ask whether every dress in the party is cut from the same fabric lot, or order them together so they are.
  • Read the custom-size return terms before you measure anyone. Most made-to-order bridesmaid dresses are final sale once they are custom-sized. Know what happens if one doesn’t fit, and who pays for the fix.
  • Ask how a different body gets a different fit. A size chart gives five women the five nearest sizes. Made to measure drafts each dress from its wearer. Decide which you are paying for.
  • Pay through a protected channel. Card or PayPal, never a bank transfer to a maker you have not used before. Dispute rights matter most on a five-dress order.
  • Inspect every dress the day it arrives. Photograph each one against the order while remake windows are still open. Our free arrival checklist works for any maker.

The arrival checklist is the 10-minute inspection checklist we wrote for wedding dresses. It works for a bridesmaid order from anywhere.
