a global tailoring collective.SKILLED MAKERS · MADE TO INDIVIDUAL MEASUREMENTS

MadeApt is a Perth-founded custom clothing platform and global tailoring collective. We connect customers with skilled tailors, artisans, and workshops across our international maker network to create made-to-measure garments designed around real bodies, real lives, and real ideas.

A more human way to make clothing

We bring the maker back into view.

Most fashion hides the person who made your clothes. We work with tailors and artisans across our global network, and each garment is matched with the maker best suited to its fabric, construction, fit, and design. This is not anonymous mass production — it is clothing made through a connected network of skilled people.

Founded in Perth, connected across continents

The process is digital. The craft is human.

MadeApt began in Perth, Western Australia, with a simple idea: clothing should be made around the person wearing it. From Perth, we are building a global tailoring collective that connects customers with skilled makers across continents.

A garment might begin as an idea in Australia, become a tailor-ready brief through the MadeApt studio, be sewn by a maker in Sarajevo, Jaipur, Hanoi, or Hoi An, and arrive as a piece made for one person’s body.

Why a tailoring collective?

Three branches, merged into one garment.

A single fashion brand usually controls the design, sizing, production, and stock. We work differently — a collective where customers, designers, tailors, artisans, and technologists each play a role in creating better clothing.

The customer

Brings the body, the idea, and the life the garment needs to serve.

MadeApt

Helps shape the brief, measurements, fabric direction, and production clarity.

The tailor / artisan

Brings the skill to cut, sew, finish, and make the garment real.

Clothing that feels more personal, more transparent, and less disposable.

Tailors, artisans, and workshops

We don’t treat all garments the same.

Some pieces require precise tailoring. Some need delicate fabric handling. Some need structured construction. Some need embroidery, print placement, hand-finishing, or special fabric knowledge.

A structured coat, a silk dress, a tailored skirt, a wedding guest piece, and a cotton everyday dress may all need different hands, different experience, and different construction knowledge. Each piece is matched with the maker best suited to the job.

Technology helps the maker, not replaces them

The tools are modern. The clothing is human-made.

We use digital tools to make custom clothing easier to start, clearer to communicate, and more accessible online — helping with:

design explorationgarment briefsmeasurementsfit notesfabric choicesproduction communicationvirtual design previewscustomer and maker coordination

But the garment itself is not made by software. It is cut, sewn, pressed, checked, and finished by human hands.

Making the maker visible

Your clothing doesn’t magically appear from a warehouse.

Where possible, we share who is making your piece, where it is being made, and how the garment is progressing. It is made by someone with skill:

+Someone chooses the cut.
+Someone handles the fabric.
+Someone finishes the seams.
+Someone presses the garment.
+Someone turns the idea into something wearable.
A global network, not anonymous outsourcing

Global production can be more personal when the maker is not erased.

MadeApt’s international maker network is not about hiding production overseas. It is about connecting customers with skilled tailors and artisans directly, across borders, while making the process more transparent.

Our network includes makers in places with deep garment knowledge, tailoring traditions, fabric expertise, and skilled hands.

commit 01

Start with a design or idea

Begin with a MadeApt design, a community-shared garment, a reference image, a moodboard, a sketch, a prompt, or a garment idea. You don’t need to know tailoring terminology.

Turn the idea into a garment brief

MadeApt helps translate your idea into a clear brief — fabric, silhouette, fit notes, measurements, seams, proportions, construction, and finishing — so the maker understands exactly what needs to be made.

Match the garment with the right maker

Once the brief is ready, the garment is matched with a tailor or artisan in the network. The match depends on the type of garment, fabric, structure, complexity, and production needs.

Made to your measurements

Your piece is cut and sewn based on your measurements rather than standard sizing, so the garment is made closer to your proportions and fit preferences.

Prepared and shipped

Once complete, the garment is prepared for delivery and shipped with tracking. Most garments take 2–3 weeks from the time the tailor accepts the order; shipping time depends on your location.

Why tailoring still matters

It’s about the relationship between fabric and body.

Tailoring is not just about making clothing smaller or larger. A tailor considers proportion, balance, movement, structure, comfort, and how the garment will sit when worn.

The same dress can behave differently on different bodies, and the same fabric can change dramatically depending on cut and construction. Standard sizing cannot fully understand that. A skilled maker can.

Beyond standard sizing

We don’t reduce you to a size chart.

Instead of asking which size you are, we ask what your measurements are and how the garment should work for you. A tailoring collective gives us a different starting point — whether you are:

Made-to-order, not overstock

Your order is the moment your garment starts existing.

MadeApt garments are made after they are ordered. We do not produce traditional inventory, guess demand, or create piles of unsold sizes. This made-to-order model helps reduce unnecessary production and makes each piece more intentional from the beginning.

A digital atelier with human hands

Modern tools. Human-made clothing.

MadeApt is part design studio, part tailoring network, and part made-to-measure wardrobe system. Explore ideas online, personalize garments digitally, take your measurements from home, and have your piece made by a skilled tailor or artisan. A digital atelier, but not a faceless one.
