Ena's Yankirri Dress — First Nations Art, Reimagined to Fit
Ena's Yankirri Dress, First Nations Art, Reimagined to Fit Ena chose our structured hips dress silhouette and made it her own, adjusting the length and refining the shape to suit her body, her work, and the way she moves through the world. Made from Australian cotton drill printed with Yankirri Jukurrpa, Emu Dreaming artwork by Warlukurlangu Artists, the dress carries colour, movement, and story. The artwork depicts an emu Dreaming connected to Ngarlikurlangu, a place approximately 50km north of Yuendumu. Royalties were paid, and copyright remains with the artist and Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation. Ena, a paediatrician, found the dress became more than something beautiful to wear. At work, it became a conversation starter with her patients, a piece that invited curiosity, connection, and storytelling. She also wore it on a trip to Barcelona, Spain, where it became a versatile travel piece: structured enough to feel polished, comfortable enough to explore in, and distinctive enough to carry meaning wherever she went. The silhouette is bold. The cotton is grounded. The meaning is carried with care.
